Greg Lowrance | 1972 - 2015 | Lubbock ISD | Athletic Trainer
Few have given so much of their time and effort to Lubbock ISD Athletics as Greg Lowrance. He has faithfully served our student-athletes, coaches, and schools for 43 years.
He began his career in 1965 as a student trainer at Andrews High School. After graduating high school, Greg headed to Lubbock Christian College in 1968 as a student trainer. He was the only trainer on campus at LCC. From there, he headed to Texas Tech as a student trainer for the Red Raiders. He was the head student trainer for the Texas Tech Picadors, the freshman team, in 1971-1972.
Lowrance’s career with Lubbock ISD began in 1972 when he was named the athletic trainer for Lubbock High School. The next year, he was selected to be the head athletic trainer at the Lubbock ISD Central Training Room. From 1974 through 2003, Greg coordinated athletic trainers for all of Lubbock ISD. Many of the athletic trainers who have worked for Lubbock ISD were hired and trained by Greg.
Greg retired at the end of the 2003 school year but he was too valuable to let go. He returned to work as the
Lubbock ISD Central Training Room Assistant Trainer and stayed until 2017.
There is no way to count Greg’s impact on our athletes, coaches, and teams through his long, outstanding service to Lubbock ISD. He is retired today but his knowledge and expertise is still of great value to athletic trainers in our area.
