Recognized as one of the finest athletic trainers to ever serve Lubbock ISD, Robert "Prof" Ramos left an indelible mark on generations of schools, coaches, athletes, and colleagues. His legendary tenure in the district began as the Head Athletic Trainer at Dunbar High School from 1971 to 1976. From there, he transitioned to Estacado High School, where he masterfully served the Matadors from 1976 until 2012. Caring for athletes across all sports, Ramos dedicated a remarkable total of 41 years to Lubbock ISD.

A 1965 graduate of Duncan High School in Oklahoma, Ramos would attend the University of Oklahoma to further his education. While at OU, he served as the basketball team manager and the football student trainer.

Ramos became a licensed athletic trainer in Texas and a certified athletic trainer with national certification in the 1972-1973 school year. He was chosen as the athletic trainer for the 1980 Texas Basketball All-Star Game, and in 1985, he was selected as the trainer for the Texas All-Star Football Game.

His career led to numerous awards and recognition. Ramos received the Ken Locker Award from the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association for his contributions to the profession. In 2002, he received the Everett Blackburn Award for serving and inspiring others in the profession.

Ramos was named the Lubbock ISD Trainer of the Year in 2004 and 2010, and he was selected as the Region 3 Director for the Texas State Trainers Association from 2005 to 2010. In 2007, he received the John Harvey Humanitarian Award. Bob later received special recognition from the Dallas Lakewood Orthopedics and Sports Medicine for saving a life. His outstanding career led to his induction into the Texas State Trainers Association Hall of Honor in 2019.

Four student trainers under his guidance became professional athletic trainers. Bob Ramos was the man who inspired fellow Hall of Honor Honoree, Anthony Peppers, to pursue a career as an athletic trainer. It's fitting that they are inducted together in the Class of 2026.
