Madisyn Cox | 2009 - 2013 | Lubbock High School | Girl's Swimming

Madisyn Cox is among the most decorated athletes in Lubbock High and Lubbock ISD history. While competing in one of the state’s greatest swimming and diving programs, Madisyn raised the standard to a new level.

While at Lubbock High, Madisyn’s teams won 16 District Championships and 14 Regional Championships with 14 State Qualifiers. She was a 5-time State Medalist, 3-time State Champion, made 20 All-State Teams, and was a 10-time NISCA All-American. Cox was the Lubbock High Swimmer of the Year all 4 years of competition.

Madisyn Cox’s success story continued at the University of Texas. As a team captain for the Longhorns, she was a 17-time Big 12 Champion and was named Big 12 Swimmer of the Year in 2015 and 2017.

The International stage was up next for Madisyn’s swimming career. She was selected to the USA Swimming Junior National Team in 2013 and was on the USA Swimming National Team from 2014-2022.

During that time she was a 4 time Olympic Trials Finalist in 2016 and 2021. In 2021, Madisyn finished 3rd in the 200 Individual Medley missing 2nd place by 0.02 seconds and qualifying for the Olympic Team.

Her personal best in that event was 0.01 seconds faster than the gold medal winning time.

In the 2015 World University Games in Gwangju, South Korea, Madisyn won a Silver Medal in the 200 Individual Medley. At the World Short Course Championships in Windsor, Canada in 2016, she won a Silver Medal in the 800 Freestyle Relay, a Bronze Medal 200 Individual Medley, and a Bronze Medal 400 Individual Medley. Madisyn took home the Gold Medal at the 2017 World Long Course Championships in Budapest, Hungary and also won a Bronze Medal in both the Freestyle Relay and the 200 Individual Medley.

Cox is currently a 4th year medical student at UT McGovern Medical School in Houston with plans to practice orthopedic surgery.
